Greetings
In 1999 the World Conference on Science was held in Budapest, where four modes or types of science were defined. The last one can be read as "science in society, for society," and was an indication of scientists finally admitting new relations between science and society. Inspired by this, our program "Interaction between Society and ST" was inaugurated three years ago, and is now halfway to completion. Our program consists of volunteer based projects, which have been selected over these three years. The selection process ended last year, and now twelve projects are running. The diversity of the targets each project approaches is rather great, so that, on the whole, we hope to cover the basic concept of our program, i.e., building new, appropriate relations between society and ST. We will be very happy if this occasion can help our efforts be appreciated internationally and our concept developed worldwide.
