Organizational Structure
RISTEX pursues the implementation and management of projects related to R&D in JST Basic Research Programs. The figure below shows the organizational diagram as of November 2011.
笆The RISTEX Governing Board is composed of specialized experts who discuss matters vital to the management of RISTEX, such as determining, reforming and abolishing the R&D focus areas.
笆The Evaluation Committee is also composed of external experts and conducts interim evaluations, ex-post facto; and follow-up evaluations of the degree to which R&D targets have been reached, and the status of their progress.
笆Currently there are four R&D focus areas. Each functioning under their respective Area Directors, they engage in selection, operation, management and other various aspects of R&D projects.
笆Currently, there are two R&D Programs and each program, centered on its Area Director, promotes R&D activities. The R&D Program: Science of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy has the realization of formulating policies based on objective evidence as its theme and began its activities in FY2011.
笆The Implementation-Support Program provides support initiatives (implementation activities) that utilize or deploy results obtained through public R&D funding from the national government or other sources in order to resolve specific social issues.
笆RISTEX fellows provide specialist support management of R&D focus areas, social technology trends research, and global activities.
笆Under its Director, the Department of Planning and Management engages in project operation and management, and promotes operations for support, planning, research, public relations, and other such activities relating to R&D projects.
